Boron is a brittle, lustrous metalloid known for its extreme hardness (9.3 Mohs), high melting point and its electron deficient nature. It’s primarily used in borosilicate glass, fiberglass, fire retardant and detergent manufacture, and acts as a semiconductor and neutron absorber in nuclear applications.
Special notes: Due to the fragility and high value of these boron samples, it is recommended to handle minimally using gloves, take extra-care while un-boxing and store securely when not on display or in use.
