Pure Calcium Cube

Calcium is a soft, ductile, silvery-white alkaline earth metal, which is highly reactive with air and water. Its most common industry applications include use as a reducing agent to create metals such as thorium and uranium, the manufacture of cement and plaster and use as an alloying agent for aluminium and magnesium.

This small calcium metal sample is sealed in an air-tight glass ampoule, which is filled with an inert argon atmosphere to prevent sample degradation.
