This is because the shield can be manoeuvred quickly to any part of the body for protection, and as a bonus they can be used aggressively against opponents, almost as a secondary weapon.

Should the user be targeted with a full scale multiple projectile attack, it is possible to protect the entire body in a full tucked crouching body position.
