It’s a highly-durable, lightweight softwood, which is prized for its distinct red-brown color, tight, straight grain with few knots, along with a pleasant natural aroma and high natural resistance to decay and insect attack. 

Commonly used for multiple types of outdoor constructs including posts, decking, shingles, siding, window-framing and particularly prized for framing and long-wood in sailboats and Kayaks due to the timber’s high strength-to-weight ratio. 

Also very much sought-after for stringed instrument “tonewood” soundboards, beehive components and its complex natural essential oil compounds.
