Japanese Naginata Weapon

Equipped with a folded steel blade, which is a hammer-welded mixture of 1095 & 1060 high carbon steel, manganese spring steel, 1045 soft steel and many more smaller portions of other steels. This mixture is then folded multiple times to remove impurities, creating many hundreds of individual steel layers, finally producing arguably the best blade-making steel available.

The process and technique is renowned for smithing the finest combat blades, and certainly forms a very lethal foundational core to this battle ready polearm. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced blade-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Naginata’s blade. 

Completed with a naturally strong and durable hardwood handle, quality brass fittings, and a lacquered hardwood scabbard, this Naginata is finished with fine craftsmanship and to full traditional style of the period.
