Elegant, graceful, this exceptional weapon is intricately decorated with a floral sword theme, which symbolises a meaning closely translated to “embodiment of the world and all things”. 

Images of nature, and in particular with the flower, carried significant spiritual weight for the Samurai, especially Samurai warriors from rural clans, still largely dependent on the land for survival and for supporting their way of life.

A warrior who adorned his weapon with such beautiful artworks honored the great powers of nature and revered his deep connection with the natural world and its harmony. This understanding and deep humility of nature would carry as a mirror reflection of the Samurai’s state-of-mind with all things, even combat and death.

Equipped with an advanced Sanmai sword blade, which is a forge-weld laminate of two world-renowned sword-smithing steels. Hard T10 carbon steel, and medium folded steel, which is a mixture of 1060 carbon steel, manganese spring steel, 1045 soft steel and many more smaller portions of other steels – repeatedly folded. 

With these two steels, the blade is then hand-forged laminated into three separate sections, with the layout consisting of a hard T10 steel cutting edge, extending through the core to the exposed spine, along with two medium-hardness, folded steel side-jackets.

The purpose of this laminate is to utilize the tough, hard and durably sharp cutting edge capability of T10 steel, while facilitating additional blade resilience and elasticity with medium folded steel jackets. A Sanmai laminate is arguably the most battle-effective structural configuration for real combat, and certainly forms a very lethal foundational core to this Japanese short sword. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shoto sword blade.

Completed with a hardwood wrapped with stingray-skin scabbard, along with solid brass fittings – many of which are plated in real gold & silver, and a hardwood, wrapped with genuine stingray-skin & quality cord handle, forming a traditional, practical and effective Japanese Samurai hand-grip.
