Master Katana Sword

The blade is hand-forged laminated using two world-renowned, sword-smithing steels. Hard 1095 high carbon steel, and medium hardness folded steel, which is a mixture of 1045 soft steel, 1060 high carbon steel, manganese spring steel and many more smaller portions of other steels – repeatedly folded. 

The hard 1095 steel is wrapped-around both sides and the edge of the proposed blade, which is then hammer forge-welded against a folded steel core & exposed spine, leaving the blade’s core & spine softer, with greater elasticity and resilience.

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken sword blade.

The beautiful hardwood scabbard, wrapped in real stingray-skin, along with the intricately decorated frog Katana fittings, complement this champion Katana superbly. And the hardwood, wrapped with genuine stingray-skin & quality cord form a traditional and effective Japanese Samurai handle grip.
