Japanese Naginata Blade

Choose from a wide range of blade steel options for varied purposes, from practice, contact sparring, to a lethal selection of fully battle ready war blades. 

These Naginata weapon blanks are designed to be attached to your own handle, which can be made out of almost any material and of varying lengths.

Battle-ready blade options include; 1060 carbon steel, 1095 high carbon steel – clay tempered, T10 high carbon steel – clay tempered, and folded steel – clay tempered.

Training Naginata blade options include; a blunt 1060 blade for contact sparring, and a 1045 carbon steel blade for a shadow practice Naginata.

* The Japanese Naginata polearm weapon is considered a long pole weapon that is primarily used for open-field fighting environments. Used for a full range of cutting, slashing and thrusting attacks, it was effectively deployed against cavalry, and was often used for large sweeping attacks against multiple ground combatants.

• Overall full tang Naginata length: 84cm.
• Tang length: 34cm.
• Blade length: 50cm.
• Blade width: Approximately 5cm.
• Clay-tempered blade options: Folded steel; 1095 high carbon steel; T10 high carbon steel.
• Heat treated & quenched blade options: 1045 carbon steel; 1060 high carbon steel (blunt or sharp edge). 
• Bo Hi (Fuller): Double blood-grooves on both sides of the blade.
• Habaki material: Brass.
