With these two steels, the blade is then hand-forged laminated into three separate sections, with the layout consisting of a hard T10 steel cutting edge, extending through the core to the exposed spine, along with two medium-hardness, folded steel side-jackets.

The purpose of this laminate is to utilize the tough, hard and durably sharp cutting edge capability of T10 steel, while facilitating additional blade resilience and elasticity with medium folded steel jackets. A Sanmai laminate is arguably the most battle-effective structural configuration for real combat, and certainly forms a very lethal foundational core to this Chinese Dao sword. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this sword’s blade.

Completed with a hardwood wrapped with real stingray-skin scabbard, along with brass sword fittings – with many decorations plated in genuine silver & gold, and a hardwood, wrapped with real stingray-skin handle, forming a traditional, practical and effective hand-grip.
