White Dragon Katana

The most valuable part of any sword however is its blade, with this Sanmai laminate certainly forming an impressive foundational core to this true Katana sword saber. 

Using two world-renowned sword-smithing steels, hard 1095 high carbon steel, and medium folded steel, which is a mixture of 1060 high carbon steel, manganese spring steel, 1045 soft steel and many more smaller portions of other steels – repeatedly folded. 

With these two steels, the blade is then hand-forged laminated into three separate sections, creating an advanced Sanmai laminate structure. The structural layout consists of a hard 1095 steel cutting edge, extending through the core to the exposed spine, along with two medium-hardness, folded steel side-jackets, all of which are then hammer forge-welded together.

This creates a natural hardness differential between the two steel-grades, of which is engineered well before and separate to the quenching and tempering process. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken sword blade.

Beautifully completed with a hardwood with 3x buffalo horn inserts, wrapped in real stingray-skin scabbard, along with solid brass fittings – many of which are gilded in real gold & silver gilt, and a hardwood, wrapped with genuine stingray-skin & quality cord handle, forming a traditional, practical and effective Japanese Samurai hand-grip.
