Chinese Sword Jian

The most valuable part of any sword however is its blade, with this folded steel sword blade, certainly forming a prestigious core standard, to this fully functional and battle ready sword. 

Forged with folded steel, which is a mixture of 1095 & 1060 high carbon steel, manganese spring steel, 1045 soft steel and many more smaller portions of other steels. This mixture is then folded 10 times to remove impurities, creating over 15,000 individual steel layers, finally producing arguably the best sword-making steel available, a technique renowned for smithing the finest combat sword blades. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword making technology and visibly identifiable on this sword’s blade. 

Sword and scabbard fittings are decorated with hand-carved brass artworks, with a great number of these works gilded in genuine gold or silver gilt – very lavish artistry and materials.
