Highly versatile, the Tachi even more so than the modern Katana design was revered as both a Japanese cavalry sabre and a formidable infantry saber. 

The most valuable part of any sword is its blade, with this T10 sword blade certainly forming a very high quality core of this fully functional and battle ready sword saber. 

T10 is the highest carbon content steel used for sword making and is arguably the best steel available for a combat sword. Characteristics include a hard, reliable battle edge, which will hold its edge and stay sharp for longer than any other steel used for swordsmithing. Furthermore, the blade encapsulates good resilience and elasticity, as one would expect from any combat functional blade.

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced Japanese sword making technology and visibly identifiable on this sword’s blade. 

The black lacquered, hardwood scabbard, along with the decorative fittings complement the black sword handle nicely. And the hardwood, wrapped with leather & polyester cord form a traditional and very effective Japanese Samurai handle grip.
