1095 high carbon steel is one of the highest carbon content steels used for swordsmithing. Arguably the best steel available for Katana sword making, characteristics include a very reliable, hard and sharp battle edge, along with excellent blade elasticity and resilience, which 1095 being technically a higher carbon content spring steel, is renowned for. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced Japanese sword making technology and visibly identifiable through a very special pattern, on this sword’s blade. 

The beautiful lacquered hardwood scabbard with both brass & buffalo horn inserts, along with the battle standard brass & steel sword fittings, complement the weapon fittingly and with class.
