Equipped with a very special folded steel blade, which is a hammer-welded mixture of local, self-refined steels, folded multiple times to remove impurities, creating many hundreds of individual steel layers, finally producing arguably the best sword-making steel available.

The process and technique is renowned for smithing the finest combat sword blades, and certainly forms a unique, and very lethal foundational core to this true Katana sabre. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced Japanese sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken sword blade. 

Completed with an inner-hardwood, steel scabbard, painted in classic army-green, along with superb brass sword-fittings, and a hardwood, wrapped with real stingray-skin & quality-cord handle, forming a truly historical and very practical, Japanese Samurai hand-grip.
