A mini Tesla coil for children through to adults demonstrating wireless electricity transmission and heat induction.
Our small Tesla coil experiment produces high temperature & high pressure plasmas which can ignite material, and transmit electricity which includes both visible arcs and powering of light bulbs, etc.
This Tesla coil model comes un-assembled. It requires careful soldering and assembly, making for a perfect diy kids science project for school physics.
Mini Tesla Coil Specifications:
Operation:
This tesla coil model is very small electrical device which cannot be used with a large regular power supply or wall socket. It must be used with a high-power-switching power supply of 5-12V, with a current of not less than 5A (any less than 5V and 5A and the device will not work). Furthermore, the operating voltage should not exceed 12V (more than 12V and less than 5A, the device can be damaged).
Device modes:
1) high voltage mode (60W output); 2) Induction heating mode (120W output) (high heat – please do not use for long periods in this mode, as heat dissipation is poor & burnout can occur).
Additional notes:
1) Make sure all components are soldered properly; 2) positive and negative power supply lines should never be connected, and should only be connected once a load (heating coil or high voltage mode) has been applied to the device; 3) using this device without a load will cause both MOS tubes to conduct too much electricity and thus heat, causing heat burnout (always connect power supply with a load).
