Japanese Nodachi Sword

1095 is one of the highest carbon content modern steels used for sword-smithing and arguably the best combat sword-making steel available, assuredly forming a very lethal foundational core to this Odachi sword saber. 

Blade characteristics include a hard & tough, reliable & durable cutting edge, along with desirable blade resilience and good elasticity, which 1095, being technically a higher carbon content spring steel, is renowned for. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken sword blade.

Completed with a lacquered hardwood scabbard, along with solid brass and steel sword fittings, and a hardwood, wrapped with real stingray-skin and quality cord handle, forming a traditional, practical and effective Japanese Samurai hand-grip.
