T10, which is composed of carbon, manganese, silicon, and smaller portions of many other elements, is the highest carbon content steel used for sword-smithing. Arguably the best steel available for combat sword-making, characteristics include a very reliable, ultra-hard and sharp battle edge, along with good blade elasticity and resilience, as one would expect from a true battle ready blade. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this sword’s blade. 

An exotic, aged Ebony hardwood is used for both the handle & scabbard, and solid brass fittings finish the Jian weapon with practicality and simple class.
