Using two world class sword-smithing steels; T10 carbon steel which is one of the highest carbon content steels available and folded steel, which is a mixture of 1045 soft steel, 1060 high carbon steel, manganese spring steel and many more smaller portions of other steels, of which is repeatedly folded to remove impurities in the steel.
With these two steels, the blade is then hand-forged laminated into three separate sections, creating an advanced Honsanmai laminate structure. The structural layout consists of a T10 high carbon steel hard cutting edge and soft core & spine, along with two medium hardness sides of folded steel, of which are hand-forged laminated to this T10 inner core.
Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword making technology and visibly identifiable on this sword’s blade.
Deadly and highly versatile, this Chinese saber is capable of being used both with a single and both hands, along with a full range of classic sword attacks, including thrusting, cutting and slashing.
The handle and scabbard are both constructed with an exotic Brazilian Ebony wood, with the handle hand-wound with high quality waxed cord. All sword and scabbard fittings are pure brass – coated in a silver gilt and hand-carved into intricate artworks with precious stones embedded, finishing the sword with beauty and class.
Collectable and presentable, this Chinese sabre Piandao sword is a work of battle functional art and a real treasure to both own and use.
