Wootz steel is one of the highest carbon content modern steels used for sword-smithing, typically containing around 1.7% carbon and is classified as an ultra-high carbon steel. Arguably the best combat sword-making steel available, Wootz steel assuredly forms a very lethal foundational core to this true Katana sabre. Blade attributes include an extremely tough & hard, durable, razor sharp cutting edge, along with excellent blade elasticity and renowned resilience. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced Japanese sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken sword blade.

Completed with a lacquered hardwood scabbard, battle practical copper & stainless steel sword fittings, and a hardwood, wrapped with genuine stingray-skin & quality cord handle, forming a traditional, practical and effective Japanese Samurai hand-grip.
