Tachi Sword

A deadly Tachi saber sword.

The Japanese Tachi sword, the early predecessor to the Uchigatana or “striking Katana”, was by far the most popular sword between the years 900 and 1596. Distinguished by its often highly curved longsword blade, these Japanese long swords were designed more as a sabre sword, often wielded from horseback, they undisputedly produced superior cutting and slashing blows, compared to the more modern Katana.

A brown sword color scheme, in feudal Samurai society this color represented a warrior’s deep connection with nature and harmony. It is loosely translated as a mirror reflection of the Samurai’s state-of-mind with all things, even combat and death.

The most valuable part of any sword however is its blade, with this T10 steel sword blade certainly forming a high quality, and lethal foundational core to this true sword saber. 

Forged with T10 steel, a high-carbon steel mixed with other trace elements, such as tungsten, manganese and silicon, etc, this modern, highly refined steel is renowned for its hardness, durable edge holding capacity, along with good elasticity and resilience. It is the highest carbon-content steel used for blade-smithing, and arguably the best sword-making steel available for a true combat sword. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken sword blade.

Completed with a leather wrapped, hardwood scabbard, along with quality sword-fittings, and a hardwood, wrapped with leather & quality cord handle, forming a practical and effective Japanese Samurai handle grip.
