Seasoned wood stock often features a herringbone or feathered grain, and has a pale yellowish-olive color when newly cut to size, which then oxidizes with air exposure, turning the timber color to a forest green or dark brown over time. This color change process can be accelerated with exposure to sunlight, but should never be exposed to high temperatures to avoid cracking. 

The wood is self lubricating due to its oil content and polishes to a high luster with a very attractive finish.
