The 8 piece snap-off blades are made from SK2 steel; which is a modern, highly refined, iron base-steel alloyed with on average 1.10% carbon and small amounts of silicon and manganese. Characteristics include extreme blade hardness, toughness, wear-resistance, edge holding capacity, and fair blade resilience. Snap-off blade segments are removed simply with the blade recess opening of a second knife, or similar improvised tool such as pliers. 

The handle material is a hard and tough molded aluminium-alloy, which provides a strong and highly corrosion resistant tool handle & blade housing. The handle also accommodates an auto blade-locking mechanism, which acts as a vital safety feature preventing tool/hand movement whilst exerting cutting pressure on the tool.
