Honsanmani Black Katana

1095 high carbon steel, one of the highest carbon content steels used for sword-smithing and perhaps the best steel for Katana combat blade making, is used for the core of the blade. This core steel is then forge-weld laminated on both sides with medium hardness folded steel, also a renowned Japanese sword steel, with excellent elasticity and resilience characteristics. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced Japanese sword making technology and visibly identifiable on this sword’s blade. 

The black lacquered hardwood scabbard, along with solid sword fittings complement the black sword handle nicely and contribute to an overall stealthy color scheme. And the hardwood, wrapped with genuine stingray-skin & quality cord form a traditional and very effective Japanese Samurai handle grip.
