Chinese Straight Sword Jian

The most valuable part of any sword is its blade, with this genuine Longquan sword blade, certainly forming a prestigious core standard, to this fully functional and battle ready Jian weapon. 

Smelted using three, local self-refined steels, this crucible mixture is then folded multiple times to remove impurities, creating many hundreds of individual steel layers, finally producing arguably the best sword-making steel available, a technique renowned for smithing the finest combat sword blades. 

Leaving a true identifier, the very beautiful & unique patterns formed by the above crucible mix of steels, only the blade’s edges are finely ground-away. Leaving the blade’s core with its natural crucible-forge patterns, preserved as a feature, and as a testament to the sword maker’s skill & dedication.

Sword and scabbard fittings are simple, solid brass, the scabbard a lacquered Chinese blackwood, of which is hand-painted with Han artistry, a traditional technique spanning over 2,000 years, and finally fitted with a practical, blackwood, wrapped with quality waxed-cord handle.
