Daito Sword

1095 high carbon steel is one of the highest carbon content steels used for sword-smithing. Arguably the best steel available for Katana sword-making, characteristics include a very reliable, hard and sharp battle edge, along with good blade elasticity and desirable resilience, which 1095 being technically a higher carbon content spring steel, is renowned for. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced Japanese sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken sword blade. 

Completed with a hardwood scabbard, with real buffalo horn inserts & wrapped with stingray-skin, along with the solid brass sword-fittings – many of which are gilded in real gold & silver gilt, and finally a hardwood, wrapped with real stingray-skin & quality cord, forming a traditional, practical and effective Japanese Samurai handle grip.
