Characteristics include a hard, reliable battle edge, which will hold its edge and stay sharp for longer than any other steel used for swordsmithing. Furthermore, the blade encapsulates good resilience and elasticity, as one would expect from any combat functional blade.

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced Japanese sword making technology and visibly identifiable on this sword’s blade.
