Japanese Horse Sword Tachi

$1,435.00

A Japanese horse sword, slashing and cutting powerhouse.

The Japanese Tachi sword, the early predecessor to the Uchigatana or “striking Katana”, was by far the most popular sword between the years 900 and 1596. Distinguished by its often highly curved longsword blade, these Japanese long swords were designed more as a sabre sword, commonly wielded from horseback, they undisputedly produced superior cutting and slashing blows compared to the more modern Katana.

Equipped with a folded steel blade, which is a hammer-welded mixture of 1095 & 1060 high carbon steel, manganese spring steel, 1045 soft steel and many more smaller portions of other steels. This mixture is then folded multiple times to remove impurities, creating many hundreds of individual steel layers, finally producing arguably the best sword-making steel available.
