Jian Blade Sword

Smelted using locally refined steels, with their iron sourced from local Longquan rivers, and super steel, which is a modern high carbon steel with significant chromium, tungsten, molybdenum and vanadium metals, as well as many smaller portions of other metals.

This crucible mixture is then folded 18 times to remove impurities, creating over 31,000 individual steel layers, finally producing arguably the best sword-making steel available, a technique renowned for smithing the finest combat sword blades in the region. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this sword’s blade. 

Sword and scabbard fittings are solid brass, gilded in real gold & silver gilt – of which every fitting is hand-carved. An illustrative and artistic process spanning thousands of years. And finally, the handle and scabbard are both constructed with the same, Suanzhi hardwood.
