With these two steels, the blade is then hand-forged laminated into three separate sections, creating an advanced Sanmai laminate structure. The structural layout consists of a hard T10 steel edge-core-edge, along with two medium-hardness, folded steel side-jackets, all of which are then hammer forge-welded together.

This creates a natural hardness differential between the two steels, of which is engineered well before and separate to the quenching and tempering process. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this sword’s blade.

Compiled with a premium Ebony hardwood scabbard, tasteful red copper fittings, and a practical Ebony hardwood, wrapped in quality cord handle, this Chinese straight sword is positioned for high-end personal collection, and absolutely functions as a deadly weapon of war.
