Jian Chinese Sword

The hard T10 steel is wrapped-around the folded steel inner core, encasing it completely, which is then hammer forge-welded together. This creates a natural hardness differential between the two steels, of which is engineered well before and separate to the quenching and tempering process. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this sword’s blade.
