Moonlight Sword Jian

Forged with Damascus steel, which is a mixture of 1060 high carbon steel, manganese spring steel, 1045 soft steel and many more smaller portions of other steels. This mixture is then folded multiple times to remove impurities, creating over many hundreds of individual steel layers, finally producing arguably the best sword-making steel available, a technique renowned for smithing the finest combat sword blades. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this sword’s blade. 

Completed with a hardwood, wrapped with pure copper handle & scabbard, and pure copper fittings – all of which are hand carved & very complex illustrations, gilded in real gold & silver gilt.
