Odachi Katana Greatsword

Forged with folded steel, which is a mixture of 1095 & 1060 high carbon steel, manganese spring steel, 1045 soft steel and many more smaller portions of other steels. This mixture is then folded multiple times to remove impurities, creating many hundreds of individual steel layers, finally producing arguably the best sword-making steel available, a technique renowned for smithing the finest combat Katana blades.

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken sword blade.

Beautifully completed with an illustrated copper scabbard – a work of art within itself, along with pure copper fittings, and a hardwood, wrapped with copper handle – all of which are illustrated with artworks, gilded in real gold & silver gilt. 

This O Dachi large Katana is deadly, and is executed entirely in fine form. It’s collectable, a treasure to own and a formidable combat sword to use.
