Blade characteristics include a hard & tough, reliable & durable cutting edge, along with desirable blade resilience and good elasticity, which 1095, being technically a higher carbon content spring steel, is renowned for. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient.
