Forged with folded steel, which is a mixture of 1045 soft steel, 1060 high carbon steel, manganese spring steel and many more smaller portions of other steels. This mixture is then folded multiple times to remove impurities, creating over 2,500 individual steel layers, finally producing arguably the best sword-making steel available, a technique renowned for smithing the finest combat Katana blades. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken sword blade. 

Accessories & fittings are high in quality and presented in traditional Japanese character; from the hardwood handle wrapped in genuine stingray-skin & real silk cord, hardwood scabbard wrapped with real stingray-skin + buffalo-horn inserts, to the solid brass and copper fittings.
