Daito Sword

The hard T10 steel is wrapped-around the edge and both sides of the softer folded steel’s inner core, which is then hammer forge-welded together, encasing the softer steel core with an exposed spine. This creates a natural hardness differential between the two steels, of which is engineered well before and separate to the quenching and tempering process. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken sword blade.

The beautiful, black opaque lacquered, hardwood scabbard along with quality & practical sword fittings, complement the blue Katana handle nicely. And the hardwood, wrapped with real stingray-skin & quality cord form a traditional and effective Japanese Samurai handle grip.
