Sanmai Folded Katana

The purpose of this laminate is to utilize the tough, hard and durably sharp cutting edge capability of hard steel, while facilitating additional blade resilience and elasticity with medium steel jackets. A Sanmai laminate is arguably the most battle-effective structural configuration available for real combat, and certainly forms a very lethal foundational core to this true Katana sabre. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken sword blade.

Completed with a hardwood wrapped with cane, lacquered scabbard, solid brass sword-fittings, and a hardwood, wrapped with real stingray-skin & leather cord handle, forming a traditional, practical and effective Japanese Samurai hand-grip.
