Nagamaki Sword

Purely designed for open-battlefields, this Daikatana or great sword, has the handle leverage and weapon length to decimate enemy combatants armed with weapons such as the standard sized Katana. This very big sword was used for large, sweeping attacks against multiple ground-combatants, and was employed as an effective Japanese horse killing sword against cavalry. 

Choose from two excellent, battle ready blade options, 1060 or 1095 carbon steel.

1) 1060, a modern, highly-refined, medium-carbon steel, encapsulating both a relatively high carbon and manganese content, along with other trace elements. It’s well known for its almost perfect balance of good blade strength, hardness, toughness, edge-holding capacity, as well as renowned elasticity and excellent resilience, with very similar characteristics to a spring steel sword blade. 

2) 1095 high carbon steel, which is one of the highest carbon content steels used for sword-smithing. Arguably the best steel available for Katana sword-making, characteristics include a very reliable, hard and sharp battle edge, along with good blade elasticity and desirable resilience, which 1095 being technically a higher carbon content spring steel, is renowned for. 

Further promoting perfection of this 1095 sword blade, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced Japanese sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken sword blade. 

Completed with a lacquered hardwood scabbard, along with solid brass sword-fittings, and a hardwood, wrapped with genuine stingray-skin and quality cord handle, forming a traditional, practical and effective Japanese Samurai hand-grip. 

This long handle Katana is lethal, and is executed entirely in fine form. It’s highly collectable, a pleasure to own and a formidable war sword to use.
