This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Completed with a hardwood scabbard, along with solid brass sword-fittings, and a matching hardwood handle, forming a traditional, practical and effective hand-grip.
