Equipped with a 1095 steel knife blade, which is a modern, highly refined, iron base-steel alloyed with a high on average 1.0% carbon content, significant manganese, and trace amounts of phosphorus and sulphur. 

1095 is one of the highest carbon content modern steels used for blade-smithing and arguably the best combat knife-making steel available, assuredly forming a very deadly foundational core to this Japanese Samurai knife. 

Blade qualities include a hard & tough, reliable & durable cutting edge, along with desirable blade resilience and good elasticity, which 1095, being technically a higher carbon content spring steel, is renowned for. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edges, while leaving the blade’s core softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced Japanese blade-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken Tanto fixed blade knife.

Completed with a wonderful hardwood, wrapped with real stingray-skin Tanto sheath, solid steel & pure-copper knife fittings, and a hardwood, wrapped with genuine stingray-skin & silk-cord handle, forming a traditional, practical and effective hand-grip.

This Japanese Tanto knife is sharp and lethal, and is executed with superb craftsmanship. It’s highly collectable, a treasure to own and is surely the deadliest knife for real combat.
