Decorated with intricate dragon sword themed fittings, these beautiful artistic, genuine gold & silver plated brass fittings, depict a gold dragon swimming within a turbulent silver sea. The most valuable part of any sword however is its blade, with this Kobuse laminate certainly forming a premium foundational core of this fully functional and battle ready Katana. 

The blade is hand-forged laminated using two world-renowned, sword-smithing steels. Hard 1095 high carbon steel, and medium hardness folded steel, which is a mixture of 1060 high carbon steel, manganese spring steel, 1045 soft steel and many more smaller portions of other steels – repeatedly folded. 

The hard 1095 steel is wrapped-around the edge and both sides of the softer folded steel’s inner core, which is then hammer forge-welded together, encasing the softer steel core with an exposed spine. This creates a natural hardness differential between the two steels, of which is engineered well before and separate to the quenching and tempering process. 

Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay-tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced sword-making technology and visibly identifiable on this Shinken sword blade.

The beautiful hardwood, wrapped in real stingray-skin scabbard, along with the intricately decorative sword fittings, complement the black Katana color scheme well. And the hardwood, wrapped with genuine stingray-skin & quality cord form a traditional and effective Japanese Samurai handle grip.
