This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade’s edge, while leaving the blade’s core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced Japanese sword making technology and visibly identifiable on this sword’s blade.

The lacquered hardwood scabbard and quality sword fittings complement the weapon fittingly. And the hardwood, wrapped with synthetic leather & quality polyester cord form a traditional and very effective Japanese Samurai handle grip. 

This T10 Katana is essentially a simple weapon purposed solely for battle, albeit with its distinctive half Sakabato reverse blade. It’s certainly practical and a real pleasure both own and use.
